-Too! Brampton General Meeting
February 8 th, 2005
Around
60 members including 12 spouses attended this event
and listened in rapt attention to the group's old time
favorite ally, supporter and well wisher Dr. David Evans
talk about his new role in a delightful talk entitled:
“What
does a Coroner do anyway?”
Dr.
David Evans, Chief Coroner Toronto West 2001
Dr. Evans presentation covered a brief
history of the coroner's system,
the different death investigation systems, why death investigations
are done, the Coroner's role, The Coroners Act, the powers
of a
Coroner in Ontario and benefits of the results of death investigations.
Dr. Evans went to explaining what were Inquests, what they
accomplished,
how they were conducted and what was done. He elucidated his
excellent
Power Point presentation with many images, graphics and several
interesting
real life case studies showing modern day processes.
Dr. Evans has been amongst the earliest
champions of our cause and many
of our our members know him well from his tenure at the Brampton
Hospital
whilst they were under his care. In 2001 when he retired the
group thought
we had lost friend and ally.
Soon after though Dr. Evans took up a new challenge. Despite
his new role
Dr. Evans has continued to follow our chapter's development
and activities
over the years. Members were eager to learn about his present
role. Members
not only enjoyed his talk but for many it was an opportunity
to renew
old and fond associations with him.
It was certainly an evening
with a difference and a departure
from our traditional meetings!
We are delighted and thankful that Dr. Evans came and talked
to
the group. We all wish him well in his new role and look forward
to welcoming him again sometime in future.
